Maria Sekul is a registered patent attorney at Henry Patent Law Firm. Her work focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, with concentrations in the electrical and computing arts, including telecommunications, computer systems and software, as well as wireless technologies.
In addition to her experience working as both an engineer and an attorney at multiple major telecommunications companies, Maria brings unique insight from her experience working as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Prior to joining Henry Patent Law Firm, Maria worked in-house as Senior Patent Counsel at Ericsson managing their global patent portfolio; as a Patent Associate at an IP boutique representing large telecommunications services and equipment corporations; and as a U.S. Patent Examiner at the USPTO.
Additionally, Maria has represented a large national telecommunications service provider, where she drafted and negotiated contracts for its cell tower coverage expansion.
Prior to attending law school, Maria worked for several years as a software engineer in the telecommunications industry. She served both telecommunication vendors and service providers in the Dallas area, taking on diverse roles that included software design and development, R&D, and product development.
